Burnham at Lake Nona
Burnham Institute for Medical Research at Lake Nona is an innovative research environment where scientists from many different disciplines come together to study some of the most vexing medical problems of our time.
The overarching goal of this new Institute site is to make breakthrough scientific discoveries, with particular focus on early translational research relevant to diabetes and its cardiovascular complications, cancer, and drug discovery.
Burnham's Lake Nona campus, in the southeastern region of Orlando, Florida opened April, 2009 in an emerging life science hub identified as the Medical City at Lake Nona.
A Diabetes & Obesity Research Center is currently being established to promote collaborative research to accelerate discovery in the areas of metabolism, obesity-related diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. Scientific efforts are empowered by advanced technology platforms, including ultra-high throughput small molecule screening, disease model phenotyping, metabolomics, genomics, medicinal chemistry, and pharmacology.
